The band Ottotto completed a week-long art residency at Offy. What a trio!
It was a great pleasure to organize the "Transdisciplinary DIY Mini-Festival New Year's Eve Party" happening with Camille, Lennart, and Tia. Ottotto invited their friends and put together a spectacular and magical lineup.
The foundation of the Offy off-space is that it's a place for experimentation, a place to break down hierarchies, and a space for participation. The space, the atmosphere, and the interaction with the artists and guests are meant to be inviting, offering easy access to opportunities for participation. And that's exactly what Ottotto and I discussed extensively while planning this happening. I was happy to work with these creative, open, and curious musicians; it was inspiring and simply wonderful! And I think our plan worked.
On New Year's Eve, many guests showed their desire to participate, taking responsibility autonomously and spontaneously helping out. Thank you!
Bands eliminated their set slots, so there were sometimes no breaks between concerts. Instead, transitions were improvised, effectively turning two concerts into one.
Musicians improvised, jammed together, and offered spontaneous artistic interludes. For over 12 hours, we melted together into a cute, experimental music community, carried from one atmosphere to the next. It felt like we were all part of a kitschy New Year's Eve winter fairytale. What an experience!
I'm touched and happy that this group found its way to Offy, and I would love to plan something together again in the future. Maybe New Year's Eve 2027? <3
At the beginning, I set up a Zoom recorder and recorded the whole thing. Without aiming for high quality or post-production, I've compiled some raw cuts in this album, in the same order as the concerts took place. The tracks were chosen intuitively, and I hope all the artists are happy with them. This album is for the community, the archive, and is meant to showcase the diversity of Bern's experimental underground scene!

DIREKT AUS TEUFEL'S KÜCHE:::::
Open experimental Jam Nummer 16 hat am ersten Dienstag im Februar stattgefunden. Teilgenommen haben: Rolf Zbinden, Tinu, Mirko, mit special guests Sara und Tiko. Jeden Dienstag Abend organisieren Beat und Mirko im Offy die "open experimental jams". Immer von 6-9. Alle Neugierigen sind herzlich eingeladen vorbeizukommen und mitzumachen.
An jenem besagten Dienstag haben wir uns wiedermal in einer bunt zusammengewürfelten Truppe wiedergefunden. Rolf mit selbstgebautem Frequenz-Sensor-Mikrofon, mit selbstgeschrieben kurios, dadaistisch, stimmungsvollen Texten. Tinu hat sein Schlagzeug mitgebracht, was von nun an im Offy stehen bleibt und für Trommelnde netterweise zur Verfügung steht - das wird vermutlich in Zukunft also öfters in den Aufnahmen der Jams zu hören sein. Mirko modifizierte mit seinen KaossPads Rolf und Tinu live: loops, störende FX, und natürlich seine heissgeliebte Cycles Groovebox. Tiko hat selbstgemachtes georgisches Essen gebracht und zum Schluss haben wir dann doch noch zu fünft eine abstrakte, experimentelle, chaosjam zum Besten gegeben.
HELLYEAH!
Nachdem ich die Recordings ein paar Mal gehört hab, musste ich einschreiten, damit diese Schrottperle nicht in den unendlichen Tiefen des Muschelmeerarchivs verloren geht. In Reihenfolge gebracht, Titel serviert, Cover collagiert.

Each Jam is open to the public and any curious people are happily invited to join! In each Track you can read a short story about the specific jam and it's participants.
Offy – the offspace is an independent space for art and music that consciously locates itself outside the mainstream. Here, we experiment, try out new formats, and actively embrace a culture of chance and error. We are committed DIY activists and artistic researchers. Experimental electronic music provides our foundation for connecting with people who have opened their lives to constant curiosity and the joy of experimentation.
Every Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., a public experimental jam session takes place at Offy. All who are interested are cordially invited to experiment with us.
This project is still in the early stages of public relations. All channels, texts, sounds, and media are in process and will be supplemented, adapted, and corrected. We embrace a culture of error and love the organic growth and constant adaptation.

Beat and Mirko are "Fläckä&Löcher" and they do 100% freestyle-experimental-noise-music.
We are working on a "DIGI-SAMPLER", but for now we wanted to share this little Album. Two weeks ago we met at OFFY and had a fun jamsession. All the tracks on this album happened in this one JAM.

Ein Tag vor Heiligabend haben sich Fläckä & Löcher mit Musik-Freund HasiFrasi im Offy getroffen und zum Pilzrisotto-Geköche von Dänu und Rich eine besinnliche Jam fabriziert. Kurzum ein feines, DADA-Krach und Noise-Rock X-MESS Album entstanden.

soirée expérimentale
der erste soirée expérimentale fand während dem schwarm gathering
in der grossen halle der reitschule bern statt, frühling 2025.
dieser als pre-opening gedachte abend entpuppte sich als äusserst
intensive veranstaltung mit improvisierter musik von marko, mirko, beat
über die soundsystemskulptur von mirko kircher, der performance ikarus
des kollektivs dark tears of babylon, spoken word von alessandro rolandi,
deko-expo von dominic haller, beat gipp, weiter heiter
und performative und installative previews von WerDa aus berlin.
grossartig !
inspiriert durch dessen befreienden charakter eröffnete der zweite
soirée expérimentale die neue ära des vom myzel zu offy transformierenden
undergrund-space im weyermannshaus in bern.
eine 4 stündige elektro-akustische dauerimprovisation zwischen
ambient - noise und freejazztekno beglückte und forderte ein übersichtliches
publikum.
musikalisch und poetisch interveniert haben marco giacomoni,
alessandro rolando, zverylasmalas, mirko kircher, dominic haller, beat gipp.
ergänzt wurde das ambiente durch die expo world is on fire,
kollektives buchprojekt von czentrifuga inkl neusten collagen von der
kleistermeisterschaft in der feuerwehr viktoria und kleinformatigem
von rouven_lemon.
mit flecken und löchern, wie wirs mögen !
der dritte soirée expérimentale nun wieder anders!
fieldrecordings von tinguely-klamauk über bruxelles bis maison totale trash
mischen sich mit noise, rythm, spoken words und etnorillen
(mirko kircher, zverylasmalas, alessandro rolandi, beat gipp),
amarú lädt ein zur correspondencia grafica, die holz-, linol- und siebdrucke
aus mexicolumbia sprechen eine klare sprache, gaumenfreuden von
der alten schreinerei lassen die erfreulichen begegnungen verweilen.
hier nun auf bandcamp die audio-essenzen dieses abends in seiner vielfalt,
100% impro,
roh geschnitten
und ordentlich übersteuert.
und für alle richtig neugierigen: die letzten 6 files ergeben nahtlos aneinander gehört den kompletten abend, inklusive stolpereien, ansagen und tryouts. 4 stunden zum eintauchen, abtauchen, spazieren, velo fahren, fürs archiv und weil experiment.
